OAR

Grant Recipient 2022-2023

OAR is deeply committed to supporting adults who have become entangled in the criminal justice system, as well as offering vital services to their families as they navigate the resulting challenges. We engage with our clients at any stage of justice involvement, providing support through court-ordered courses, periods of incarceration, and the critical transition back into the community post-incarceration.

At the core of our mission, OAR offers comprehensive pre-release services, including educational classes, personalized case management, and transitional assistance to inmates at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center (ADC). Recognizing the increasing trend of early releases and the shift towards supervised probation over incarceration, OAR has identified a growing demand for community-based support for our target population.

To address these needs, OAR provides extensive assistance to individuals facing financial hardships due to their involvement with the justice system. Our support services cover a wide range of necessities, including transportation, obtaining identification, communication tools, securing housing, utility payments, and access to emergency food, clothing, and medication. We understand that involvement with the justice system can create numerous obstacles to stability, impacting individuals, families, and entire communities.

Additionally, OAR offers a variety of classes and programs designed to address specific criminogenic risk factors, bridging skills gaps caused by incarceration, and preparing clients for successful reintegration into the workforce and the community. Some of the critical areas funded by our grants include:

  • OSHA Class/Certification
  • Cleaning equipment for self-employment
  • Emergency hotel fees for vulnerable clients
  • Storage fees
  • Daycare support
  • Prescription medications
  • Rent assistance, including security deposits and mortgage payments to prevent foreclosure
  • DMV fees for reinstating driving privileges and obtaining identification cards
  • Clothing not available on-site

Through these comprehensive services and dedicated support, OAR remains steadfast in our commitment to fostering stability and growth for individuals affected by the justice system, ensuring they have the resources and opportunities needed to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to their communities.
